Looking dorsum, I realize now that holding a scalding hot laundry iron inches away from my confront probably wasn't the smartest matter I'd ever done, merely I was a curious teenager, and I'd heard from my friend Jessica that the quickest fashion to get direct hair was to fe information technology.

Okay, this was the early '90s, and flat irons hadn't quite fabricated their fashion into every directly hair-challenged girl's bathroom withal, so, one day, after pressing the wrinkles out of my favorite pair of Z. Cavariccis and my blackness-and-white polka-dot shirt (complete with sheer black sleeves!), I placed my long, wavy hair on the ironing board and…

(Seriously, do NOT endeavour this at home.)

It didn't have long to plough my unruly lion'south mane into a sleek curtain of direct pilus. "Victory!" I roared. Adrenaline burned through my veins! — or I guess information technology could have been heat from the iron.

This went on for about ii weeks until the twenty-four hour period my mom walked in on me. What followed was A LOT OF YELLING! And that pretty much put an end to that particular kind of ironing.

Only it didn't halt my quest for direct hair. I picked up a few more straight hair tricks in my 20s that weren't so, um, dangerous. One stylist taught me how to straighten with a round boar pilus brush and a blow dryer. I spent half of my 20s using that combo.

At present in my 30s, I've embraced my natural waves, just I still similar to switch things upwardly and rock a straight hair wait from time to fourth dimension, like for job interviews, or whenever I don't feel like fussing with my curls.

Present, though, I rarely bust out the boar hair brush and blow dryer. Apartment irons are just and then much faster for me (fifteen minutes, vs. upwards to an hr for the brush and dryer).

There are tons of different ways to straighten hair, but here's the one I apply. Afterward I launder and condition, I apply a oestrus protecting get out-in foam while my hair is still wet. So I permit it dry out. I prefer to air dry, but I will utilise a blow dryer if I'one thousand pressed for fourth dimension.

Once my pilus is dry out, I re-utilise a heat protectant spray and, department by section, run through information technology with the apartment iron. Later that, I employ a serum or cream to the ends to tame flyaways and add together shine.

I'm a curly girl through and through, but I also similar straight pilus. 🙂 It'south fun to allow that girl come out and play sometimes.
